Kijiji Announces Website Ads.txt Rollout to Protect Advertisers

Launch reflects efforts to increase transparency in Kijiji’s digital media offering

TORONTO, July 27, 2017 – Kijiji Canada has launched ads.txt – a project developed by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) intended to eliminate the black market for digital advertising inventory – as part of its overall digital publisher strategy.

Ads.txt, which stands for Authorized Digital Sellers, creates a pre-formatted index of authorized sellers that publishers can post to their domains. Programmatic buyers can then use these publisher ads.txt files to screen for fake or misrepresented inventory.

The implementation of ads.txt to will help reduce fraudulent activity and increase visibility, increasing safety and transparency for advertisers.

“We felt it was crucial to integrate ads.txt to our site to help increase transparency and add another layer of protection for our digital ad buyers,” says Chris Quinn, Head of Commercial Operations at Kijiji Canada. “We are always looking for ways to improve our site’s security, and strengthen relationships with partners and consumers at large, which ads.txt does. We’re proud to be one of the first Canadian digital publishers to roll out the initiative.”
